Training for Shipping Biological Substances and Dry Ice
DRY ICE IS A DANGEROUS GOOD! Shipping materials on dry ice must be done through OEHS unless you have taken the Shipping Biological Substances and Dry Ice Training course within the past two years.
If you would like to be certified to ship substances on dry ice directly from your lab, OEHS offers a Shipping Biological Substances & Dry Ice course. This training certifies individuals to be able to ship limited types of materials. Contact OEHS if you are unsure if your materials are acceptable to be shipped directly from your lab.
Training is required every two years and can be completed online through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative at the University of Miami (CITI). In CITI, after clicking on “View Courses” and scrolling to the bottom of the page, click on the "Add a Course" link. Scroll down to Question #13 and add the Shipping Biological Substances and Dry Ice Course to your curriculum.
You must be registered with CITI to add courses to your profile. See CITI Training Registration: Step-by-Step Guide.
Note, OEHS ships dangerous goods at no charge for WSU laboratories. Submit requests through WSU’s current shipping request system (link can be found at Shipping Dangerous Goods). Contact OEHS if you have any questions regarding shipping (313-577-1200).
