Type II Research Centers and Institutes
"Type II" centers and institutes at Wayne State University are large, multidisciplinary center engaged primarily in research activities that reports to the Vice President for Research. Type II centers and institutes must be approved in accordance with the provisions set in the university policy on centers and institutes. Currently there are six approved Type II research centers and institutes at Wayne State University: the Institute of Gerontology; the Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute, the Institute for Environmental Health Sciences; the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics; the Center for Emerging and Infectious Diseases; and the Institute for Brain Health (website forthcoming). All other centers at the university are either "Type I" centers/institutes reporting to the Provost, federally funded centers/institutes, or school/college centers/institutes reporting to their respective dean.
